The Swampscott golf team kicked off the Big Blue fall sports season on Tuesday afternoon, falling in a close match to Northeastern Conference foe Beverly, 36.5-35.5, at Beverly Golf & Tennis Club.
“Obviously it was a tough loss to go down by one, but it was great to see the season finally get off and running,” said Swampscott coach Jason Knowles. “Beverly is a well-coached team, and they’re tough to beat at Beverly Golf & Tennis. We’re looking forward to a rematch in a few weeks at Tedesco Country Club.”
Swampscott earned three wins on the day, with junior Lou Spellios winning his match 8.5-0.5, senior Aidan Graciale winning his match 5.5-3.5 and freshman Jason Bouffard capturing his first career varsity match 6.5-2.5.
Swampscott is back in action Thursday afternoon (3:30) against new NEC addition Masconomet on the road at Ferncroft Country Club.
