The Swampscott field hockey team got the 2020 season started off on the right foot Monday, scoring three goals and playing some solid defense to earn a 3-0 win over Northeastern Conference foe Beverly at Blocksidge Field.
Jordan Waters, Isabella Modica and Olivia Baran each scored one goal in the win for the Big Blue.
It’s a strong start to the year for the Big Blue, who are returning a number of experienced players from last year’s team. Leading the way for Swampscott this year will be 2020 team captains Waters, Lilli D’Agostino and Harper Clopton. Modica is coming off of a season that earned her NEC All-Conference honors in 2019, while Clopton earned NEC All-Star honors last year.
Swampscott (1-0) is back in action next Monday (4) on the road at Gloucester.
