The St. Mary’s golf team couldn’t quite continue the momentum from its win over Cardinal Spellman, falling to new Catholic Central League foe Bishop Feehan by a score of 215-175 on the road at Heather Hill Country Club Thursday afternoon.
Luke Smith led the way for St. Mary’s with 32 points, while Eric Bridges had a solid day with 27 points. Peter Pagliuca had 26 points and Andrew Potter had 24 points, while Andrew Luciano, Terence Moynihan and Sean Mathers each had 22 points.
St. Mary’s (2-6) hosts Bishop Fenwick Monday (3) at Tedesco Country Club.
GOLF
Marblehead 40, Salem 32
Charlie Grenier led the way for Marblehead in the victory, earning medalist honors after shooting a score of 39 and winning his match 8-1. Other winners for the Magicians were Scott Campbell (7-2) and Noah Kaplowitch (6.5-2.5), while Matt Weed tied his match (4.5-4.5).
Marblehead (3-1) takes on Swampscott at Tedesco Country Club Tuesday (3).
For Salem, winners were Ethan Doyle (6.5-2.5), Joe Parr (5-4), Jon Wasserman (5-4) and Jack Doyle (5.5-3.5).
St. John’s Prep 231, Malden Catholic 268
Aidan LeBlanc shot a 2-under 33 in the victory for the Eagles, while Emmet Phelan shot 1-under 34 and Connor Remley shot 1-over 36.
St. John’s Prep (7-0) travels to Catholic Memorial Tuesday (2:30).
Beverly 46.5, Peabody 25.5
The Tanners fell short against Beverly but despite the loss Peabody’s second match was all about improvement.
Ryan Brunet earned a 5.5 to 3.5 win in the No. 1 spot, while No. 8 Chris Fabbo also took his matchup 5-4. Mike Ryan may have dropped his match (5.5-3.5) but also showed great improvement for the Tanners.
Peabody (0-2) travels to Salem Friday (4).
Archbishop Williams 165, Bishop Fenwick 153
Playing well for the Crusaders were Cade Buckley (30 points), Gavin Belt (26 points), Steven Woods (23 points) and Tony Novak (21 points).
Fenwick (7-2) hosts Austin Prep Saturday (3:30) at The Meadow at Peabody Golf Course.
GIRLS SOCCER
Swampscott 2, Peabody 1
The Big Blue were paced on offense by goals from Mia Schena and Sophie DiGrande, while Mackenzie Kearney notched two assists. Goalkeeper Lillian Gosselin had six saves in the win, while Aislinn McCaran, Victoria Quagrello, Maddie Hudson and Grace Hudson all played well for the Big Blue.
Swampscott (1-1-1) hosts Danvers Friday night (6:30).
Peabody’s lone goal came from Hailee Lomasney on an assist from Bridgett O’Connell. The Tanners (2-1) play on the road at Marblehead Friday (4).

Olivia Baran led the way for Swampscott with two goals, while Jordan Waters scored one goal.

Canaan Whittier, Ana Ziaziulia, Haven Linehan, and goalkeeper Emily Doughman played well in the loss for Marblehead.

Newburyport 50, Lynnfield 15
Lynnfield couldn’t get the job done at home against a strong all around Newburyport team. Sophomore Courtney Cummings was the Pioneers top finisher at 11th place with a personal best time of 22:50.
Lynnfield (1-1) travels to Triton Thursday.
Newburyport 43, Lynnfield 20
The Pioneers got an impressive showing from senior captain Mike Madden who finished first (16:28) on Lynnfield’s three-mile home course, but it wasn’t enough against a strong Newburyport squad.
