Lynn and Revere report new virus cases, deaths

The coronavirus surge continued in Lynn and Revere on Monday with additional deaths and a double-digit increase in new cases reported in both communities. 

Two more people have died from the virus in Lynn, which brings the city’s death toll to 121. 

And another death was reported in Revere, which brings the numbers of residents who have died in that community to 107. 

In Lynn, 24 new cases were reported on Monday, which increases the city’s caseload to 5,266. However, only 345 cases are active, as 4,800 people have recovered from the virus, according to city data.

Revere reported 31 new cases on Monday, which vastly surpasses its average daily increase of 21 new cases over the past seven days. The city’s caseload now stands at 3,025, according to the city website.

In Peabody, 21 new cases have been reported since last Friday. The city now has 1,387 cases, 188 deaths and 1,037 people have recovered, according to the health department. 

Seven new cases have been reported in Swampscott since last Thursday, which increases the town’s caseload to 183. Eleven people have died, according to the town website. 

Lynnfield (165 cases, 14 deaths) reported four new cases on Monday and an additional case has been reported in Marblehead (287 cases, 30 deaths) since last Monday, Oct. 12. 

Numbers remained the same in Nahant (52 cases, six deaths) and have not been updated in Saugus (766 cases, 42 deaths) since last Thursday.
