The Saugus girls soccer team opened up the season in strong fashion Friday afternoon, knocking off Northeastern Conference foe Salem by a score of 6-2 at McGrath Park.
“It was a great way to start off the season,” said Saugus coach Chris Coviello. “We came out strong and played well, which was great to see since we’ve gotten such a late start to the year. Hopefully we can keep it going.”
Jordan Morris was the catalyst for the Saugus offense Friday, scoring five goals to lead the attack. Haley McLaughlin added one goal in the win, while Maddie Goyetche, Jess Carter and Megan Bluette all played well.
Saugus (1-0) is back in action Tuesday (4) with a road matchup against Gloucester.
