Lynn reported 40 new coronavirus cases Monday, the same surge that was seen last Friday.
Lynn also reported 40 new cases in a 24-hour time span last Friday, which far exceeded the city’s daily average of new cases in past weeks.
For weeks, Lynn and Revere have been reporting a double-digit surge in new cases on most days, which continued on Monday.
In Revere, 26 new cases were reported to bring the city’s caseload to 3,229. A total of 108 residents have died, according to the city website.
With 40 new cases reported, Lynn now has 5,498 cases. Of that total, 484 cases are active, 122 residents have died and 4,892 have recovered, according to city data.
In addition to Lynn and Revere, three other local communities, Lynnfield, Saugus and Swampscott, have been designated “red,” or high risk by the state.
As of Monday, Lynnfield had 170 cases and 14 deaths, and Swampscott, which has reported 16 new cases over the past two weeks, had 188 cases and 11 deaths. Saugus (808 cases, 43 deaths) has not provided updated numbers since last Wednesday.
Nahant reported its latest numbers as 55 cases and six deaths on Monday and Marblehead (292 cases, 30 deaths) last updated its numbers this past Thursday.
