Letter to the Editor: Lynnfield needs open space

the-editors

October 27, 2020 by the-editors

Thank you to Melanie Lovell for her recent letter. I agree with all the things she said except for being disappointed with our fall Town Meeting. It is wonderful that all those folks made the effort to come to talk and think about the future of our town.

It is also great that we still have town meetings.

We need to start preserving open space in Lynnfield. Our beautiful little town is changing rapidly and we are building houses as fast as we can. Those of you who believe that our climate is changing more rapidly than it used to know that natural land and trees, and water that is protected are crucial to helping our weather and climate from becoming violent, destructive and deadly as is now happening in many parts of our country.

We are lucky to have our Planning Committee people who are on the right track. Thanks to Joe Markey and his crew, and all the others who made the meeting possible (which isn’t easy these days).

I hope we can somehow start preserving open space — and the sooner the better.
