Lynn, Lynnfield, Revere, Saugus and Swampscott have kept their red, or high risk, coronavirus designation for another week.
And Nahant has joined those communities in the red.
Lynn and Revere are among the state’s worst hot spots for the virus, as both rank within the top five in terms of communities with the highest positive test rate over the past 14 days, according to the state Department of Public Health.
Communities are designated as red if their average daily incidence rate is at least 8.0 per 100,000 residents.
Lynn ranks fifth in the state for its positive test rate, which is 4.26 percent over the past 14 days.
Revere, at 4.68 percent, is third, while the other three state leaders are Middleton (8.88 percent), Lawrence (8.2 percent), and Everett (4.3 percent).
Over the past two weeks, Lynn has averaged 17.3 cases per 100,000 residents each day, while Revere’s rate is much higher at 27, according to the DPH.
In Lynn, 41 new cases were reported on Thursday to bring the city’s caseload to 5,609. Of that total, 492 cases are active, 122 people have died and 4,995 have recovered from the virus, according to city data.
Revere reported 39 new cases to bring the city’s total numbers to 3,319 cases and 109 deaths, according to the city website.
As of Wednesday, Saugus had 812 cases and 43 deaths. The town’s daily incidence rate is 17.8 cases per 100,000 residents and its positive test rate is 2.93 percent, according to the DPH.
Numbers remained the same in Lynnfield on Thursday. The town has reported 174 cases and 14 deaths, and its daily incidence rate over the past 14 days is 11.7. The positive test rate over that same two-week span is 1.96 percent, according to the DPH.
Swampscott, which has a daily incidence rate of 8.3 and positive test rate of 1.08 percent, had 188 cases and 11 deaths as of Wednesday, according to the DPH.
Yellow, or moderate risk communities, Marblehead and Peabody had 292 cases and 30 deaths, and 1,479 cases and 188 deaths as of Wednesday.
And numbers remained the same in red, or high risk, Nahant on Thursday, which has reported 61 cases and six deaths.
