Local election officials are expecting record-breaking voter turnout numbers for this Tuesday’s election.
While most voters will come out for the heated presidential election, they will also be asked to cast their ballots for a number of state and congressional races.
Many of the candidates are running unopposed, but voters in the 6th Congressional District, which encompasses parts of Essex and Middlesex Counties, and the 13th Essex District, which includes Danvers and parts of Middleton and Peabody, will have a decision to make.
In the 6th District, U.S. Representative Seth Moulton, a Democrat from Salem, is vying for a fourth term in Congress. He faces John Paul Moran, a Republican from Billerica.
Moulton defeated both of his Democratic challengers by a landslide during the September primary, while his opponent, Moran, was unopposed on the Republican side.
The race will be on the ballot for many North Shore voters, including those in Lynn, Lynnfield, Marblehead, Nahant, Peabody, Saugus, Salem, and Swampscott.
In the 13th Essex District, five candidates are vying to fill a seat that is being vacated by long-time state Rep. Ted Speliotis, who is retiring in January.
The candidates are Sally P. Kearns, a Democrat from Danvers; Robert E. May Jr., a Peabody Republican; two Independent party members from Danvers, William J. Bates and Jason Guida; and a non-affiliated candidate from Danvers, Christopher Keohane.
Candidates running unopposed this Tuesday include: state Sen. Joan Lovely for 2nd Essex District, representing Beverly, Danvers, Peabody, Salem, and Topsfield; state Sen. Brendan Crighton for 3rd Essex District, representing Lynn, Lynnfield, Nahant, Saugus and Marblehead; state Rep. Lori Ehrlich for the 8th Essex District, representing Lynn, Marblehead and Swampscott; state Rep. Donald Wong for 9th Essex District, representing Lynn, Lynnfield, Wakefield, and Saugus; state Rep. Daniel Cahill for 10th Essex District representing Lynn; and state Rep. Peter Capano for 11th Essex District representing Lynn and Nahant.
Also running unopposed after defeating her Democratic primary opponent in September is Revere City Councilor Jessica Giannino, who is vying to fill the 16th Suffolk District seat that is being vacated by state Rep. RoseLee Vincent. Vincent chose not to run for re-election.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
