Lynn hits 6,000 COVID-19 cases

Lynn has surpassed 6,000 coronavirus cases after reporting another significant spike on Friday. 

Peabody and Revere also reported a double-digit surge in cases, and new cases were also seen in Lynnfield and Marblehead. 

In Lynn, 64 new cases were reported to bring the city’s caseload to 6,007. Of that total, 666 cases are active, 123 people have died, and 5,218 have recovered from the virus, according to city data. 

Peabody has reported 46 new cases since Wednesday to bring the city’s total number of cases to 1,590. The city’s death toll is 192 and 1,101 have recovered, according to the health department. 

In Revere, 37 new cases were reported to bring the city’s total numbers to 3,532 cases and 109 deaths, according to the city website. 

Three new cases apiece were reported in Lynnfield and Marblehead, which now have 193 cases and 14 deaths, and 302 cases and 30 deaths respectively, according to town data. 

Numbers remained the same in Nahant (68 cases, six deaths) and were not updated in Saugus or Swampscott on Friday. 

Saugus had 904 cases and 44 deaths as of Tuesday, and Swampscott had 193 cases and 11 deaths as of Monday.
