NAHANT — Nahant’s first COVID-19 test site is open this week only at St. Aquinas Church.
Available to residents and employees of both Nahant and Swampscott, the site will be open for drive-through testing ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday and requires no prior appointment.
Nahant Town Administrator Antonio Barletta said the site was paid for using Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding and will be staffed by workers from Cataldo Ambulance Service.
“I want to thank Cataldo and the town of Swampscott for partnering with us to make free testing available to our residents,” Barletta said. “With COVID-19 numbers on the rise and indoor activity increasing due to colder weather, having testing available will help keep people informed, especially those who are asymptomatic, and hopefully limit or even prevent transmission from person to person.”
Hours of test site operation are Tuesday, Nov. 24 and Wednesday, Nov. 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Photo ID is required. The site at St. Aquinas Church will restart operations on Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning Dec. 2.
Testing is also available to Nahant residents at First Congregational Church in Swampscott Monday through Friday, 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
