Lynn, Peabody, Revere, and Saugus stayed in the red this week, with coronavirus cases surging in all four communities.
For the third straight day, Lynn reported more than 100 new cases, while Revere almost reached triple-digits for a second straight day.
After reporting 169 and 191 new cases on Wednesday and Thursday respectively, which set record highs for consecutive days, Lynn reported 129 new cases on Friday.
Lynn also reported an additional fatality, which brings its COVID-19 death toll to 135, according to city data.
Friday’s spike brings the city’s caseload to 8,193. Of that total, 1,464 cases are active and 6,594 people have recovered from the virus, according to city data.
The city’s positive test rate climbed to 10.23 percent this week, sixth highest in the state. Lynn’s daily incidence rate also increased, to 67.6 new cases per 100,000 residents over the past two weeks, according to the state Department of Public Health.
After breaking its own single-day record for new cases on Thursday, with 131 new cases in a 24-hour period, Revere reported another spike on Friday, with 99 new cases reported.
Revere, another COVID-19 hot spot, now has 4,757 cases and 114 deaths, according to the city website. State data shows that the city’s positive test rate is 7.85 percent and its daily incidence rate is 59.2 new cases per 100,000 residents over the past two weeks.
In Peabody, 137 new cases and two additional deaths have been reported since Wednesday. The city now has 2,591 cases, 212 deaths, and 1,412 people have recovered from the virus, according to the health department.
Peabody’s positive test rate is 6.93 percent and its daily incidence rate is 58.5 new cases per 100,000 residents over the past 14 days, according to the DPH.
Saugus has reported 230 new cases and an additional death since Nov. 27, which brings the town’s total numbers to 1,425 cases and 46 deaths, according to the town website.
The town’s positive test rate is 6.27 percent and its daily incidence rate is 49.9 new cases per 100,000 residents, according to the DPH.
Lynnfield reported 16 new cases on Friday, which brings its caseload to 347. Fifteen people have died, according to the town website.
In Marblehead, 51 new cases and an additional death have been reported since last Friday. The town now has 441 cases and 31 people have died, according to town data.
Numbers were not updated in Swampscott on Friday, but the town has reported 35 new cases over the past week to bring its caseload to 297. Eleven people have died, according to the DPH and town data.
Numbers remained the same in Nahant, which had 96 cases and six deaths as of Friday.
