Christmas Day: What’s Open, What’s Closed

The Daily Item will not print a paper on Christmas day.

WHAT’S OPEN:

  • All MBTA routes will run a Sunday schedule on Christmas day.
  • Certain restaurants, including Applebees, Denny’s, IHOP and Boston Market will be open. 
  • Many Dunkin’ locations will be open.
  • Many Starbucks locations will be open.
  • Certain chain stores will be open. 
  • Coco Key Water Resort will be open.
  • Gas stations and convenience stores will generally be open regular hours. 
  • CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens are open, though their pharmacies will be closed and their hours will vary.

 

WHAT’S CLOSED

  • Most municipal buildings in the region, including post offices, libraries, and town halls will be closed Christmas Day.
  • Supermarkets like Market Basket, BJ’s, Costco, Stop and Shop, Shaw’s, and Price Rite will be closed.
  • Department stores like Kohl’s, JCPenney, Ocean State Job Lot, Target, and Walmart will be closed.
  • The Northshore mall in Peabody will be closed.
  • The Square One Mall will be closed.
  • Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods stores will be closed.
  • All Massachusetts liquor stores will be closed. 
  • All banks will be closed. 
  • The stock market is closed. 
  • Boston parking meters will not be in effect.
