WHAT’S OPEN:
- Liquor stores may be open on New Year’s Day depending on the store.
- B.J.’s Wholesale Club will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Market Basket will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Shaw’s will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Stop and Shop will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Department Stores such Macy’s, Kohl’s, Target, Ocean State Job Lot, Walmart, Best Buy and JCPenney will be open.
- The North Shore Mall in Peabody and the Square One Mall in Saugus will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- All MBTA routes will run a Sunday schedule.
- Many local and chain restaurants will be open.
- CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens are open, though their pharmacies may be closed and their hours may vary.
WHAT’S CLOSED
- US Post Offices, and FedEx stores will be closed New Year’s Day.
- Most banks will be closed.
- Government offices, including the Registry of Motor Vehicles, state and local courts, and city/town halls will be closed.
- The Stock market will be closed.
- Costco will be closed.
- Trader Joe’s stores will be closed.
- MBTA Ferry service will not be in operation.
