The Bishop Fenwick girls hockey team battled back and forth against Catholic Central League foe Matignon Sunday morning, but the Crusaders eventually came up just short in a 3-2 loss at McVann-O’Keefe Memorial Rink.
Lauren Diranian and Catherine Salvo each scored one goal for Fenwick, while Emma Perry notched one assist. Goalie Sedona Lawson played well in net.
Fenwick (2-1) returns to the ice Wednesday night (7:45) on the road against Arlington Catholic at Ed Burns Arena in Arlington.
BOYS HOCKEY
Triton 6, Lynnfield 2
After initially falling behind by a score of 5-0, the Pioneers managed to fight back a bit with a pair of goals from Chase Carney late in the third period.
Lynnfield (0-1-1) is set to take on rival North Reading Wednesday night (7:30) at Kasabuski Arena in Saugus.
Gloucester 8, Peabody 3
The shorthanded Tanners fought hard, but they couldn’t quite keep up with a strong Gloucester team on the road at Talbot Rink Saturday.
Senior transfer Matt Devin netted two goals for Peabody in the loss, while senior Jager Ingram scored one goal.
Peabody (0-1) travels to Larsen Arena for a Northeastern Conference matchup with Winthrop Wednesday evening (6:10).
