DANVERS — The St. John’s Prep basketball team kept up its strong start to the season over the weekend, earning a 57-46 win over Catholic Conference foe St. John’s (Shrewsbury) Sunday afternoon at home.
Aidan Callahan led the way for the Prep with 15 points, while Rollie Castineyra was right behind with 14 points. Nathan Hendricks (nine points) and Jack Perry (five points) also played well in the win.
St. John’s Prep (2-0) now has several days off before getting back in action Friday evening (6) on the road at Catholic Memorial.
BOYS BASKETBALL
St. Mary’s 78, Arlington Catholic 75
Things ended up coming down to a late shot by Ali Barry, who drained a three-pointer to help the Spartans seal the victory. Barry ended up with 17 points, while Omri Merryman led all scorers with 20 points.

Bishop Feehan 61, Bishop Fenwick 36
Jason Romans led the way for Fenwick with 14 points, eight rebounds and nine steals.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
St. Mary’s 72, Cathedral 32
The Spartans won their fourth game in as many days Saturday afternoon, taking down their Catholic Central League foe in what may have been their most complete game of the season.
Kellyn Preira, Nicolette D’Itria and Yirsy Queliz each scored 16 points to lead the offense in the win.

Bishop Fenwick 62, Bishop Feehan 56
Fenwick kept its unbeaten season alive Saturday afternoon, notching a conference win on the road.
Junior Olivia Found led the way with 19 points and seven steals, while senior captain Liz Gonzalez was right behind with 18 points and six rebounds. Senior captain Veronica Tache scored 12 points in the victory.

Senior Owen Atkinson scored the lone goal for the Prep in Saturday’s season opener, while senior Jake DiNapoli notched one assist. Goalie Cam Smith played well in net for the Eagles.

Gabby Davern scored the lone goal for the Crusaders, while Emma Perry and Abbey Millman each had one assist. Allison Countie and Catherine Salvo played well on the defensive end, while goalie Sedona Lawson played a strong game in net.

The Crusaders had four first-place finishers in the loss, with Hannah English winning the 200 freestyle (2:21.19), Meredith Yuhasz winning the 500 freestyle (5:17.60) and the team of Yuhasz, Emily DelBene, Audrey Waldinger and Madison Moseley winning the 400 freestyle relay (4:17.33). On the diving board, Isabella Forte took first place with a score of 229.88.
Fenwick (0-1) is back in the pool on Saturday (2) on the road at St. Mary’s.
