The Bishop Fenwick boys basketball team refused to be swept in its season series against St. Mary’s, taking down its Catholic Central League rival by a score of 60-54 Friday night on the road at Conigliaro Gymnasium.
Che Hanks led the way for Fenwick with 18 points and five rebounds, while Mike Yentin put up a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Fenwick (5-2) hosts Cristo Rey Monday evening (6:30).
St. Mary’s got 15 points from Ali Barry, while Omri Merryman (12 points) and Sammy Batista (11 points) also finished in double figures.
St. Mary’s (4-2) is right back in action Saturday afternoon (3) against Bishop Stang.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Lynnfield 75, Amesbury 67
Jack Ford had a season-high 29 points in the victory for Lynnfield, while Luke Martinho was right behind with 25 points.
Lynnfield (2-3) plays on the road at Triton Tuesday (5:45).
Swampscott 44, Saugus 43
Evan Roth hit the game-winning 3-pointer with less than one minute to play as Swampscott edged out its Northeastern Conference foe Friday night.
Roth had 17 points to pace the offense for the Big Blue, while Andrew Augustin had seven points and Jason Aucone had six points.
Swampscott (2-0) hosts Salem Tuesday (7).
Tyrone Manderson led the way for Saugus with 17 points, while Mason Nickolas scored 10 points. Myles Manalaysay (seven points), Kyle McLaughlin (six points) and Ryan Mabee (three points) also played well in the win.
Saugus’ (0-2) next game is Thursday.
Marblehead 78, Danvers 46
Marblehead used a late first half run combined with a 28-7 advantage in the third quarter to take the game.
Marblehead had 11 players in the scoring column, led by Hunter Fleming’s 22 points. Sophomore guard Magnus McCarthy chipped in 11 points.
Marblehead (2-1) hosts Beverly Tuesday (5:30).
Catholic Memorial 66, St. John’s Prep 63
Despite a 27-point performance from Rollie Castineyra, the Eagles came up just short. Aidan Callahan added 13 points in the loss.

Salem 48, Salem Academy 27
The Witches were led by Bobby Jellison’s 16-point, five-rebound performance, while Ethan Doyle chipped in nine points and five rebounds. Jack Doyle had a solid all-around game with eight points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Salem (2-0) takes on Swampscott Tuesday (7).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Swampscott 36, Saugus 23
Niya Morgen hit five 3-pointers and scored 16 points to lead the way for Swampscott. Junior Brooke Matela also had a solid game, notching four points, six rebounds and four steals.
Swampscott (1-1) travels to Salem Tuesday evening (6).
Despite the loss, junior April Aldred had a career night for the Sachems, scoring nine points on a trio of 3-pointers. Freshman Ashleen Escobar (four points) had a strong game defensively.
Saugus (0-2) plays on the road at Winthrop Thursday (6).
Winthrop 44, Danvers 36
The Vikings were led by Maura Dorr, who notched 17 points in the win. Grace Glauris added a season-high nine points.
