The St. Mary’s boys basketball team bounced back from a tough loss over the weekend, notching a 74-55 win over Catholic Central League foe Bishop Stang at Tony Conigliaro Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
Ali Barry had a big game for the Spartans in the win, notching 21 points, five assists and five blocks. Sammy Batista also scored 21 points in the victory.
St. Mary’s (5-2) returns to the court Monday evening (6) with a road game against Bishop Feehan.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
St. Mary’s 67, Bishop Stang 42
The Spartans continued their solid play with another CCL win on Saturday. St. Mary’s got strong performances from Yirsy Quelix, Van Nguyen, AJ Hyacinthe, Nicolette D’Itria, Kellyn Preira, Alyssa Grossi, Maiya Bergdorf, Pe’jae Parent, Ellie Fox, Abby Constine, Lily Newhall, Michelle Azzun and Olivia Abbott in the victory.
St. Mary’s (8-1) hosts Bishop Feehan Monday evening (6).
BOYS HOCKEY
St. Mary’s 3, Bishop Feehan 0 (Sunday)
St. Mary’s got goals from Brady Bullock, Seamus Foley and Harrison Kinne in the victory, while goalie Owen Giangrande notched the shutout victory in net.

Saturday’s loss was the Spartans’ first CCL loss of the season.
Saugus 5, Swampscott 1
Behind two goals from junior Chris Regnetta, the Sachems were able to earn their first win of the season Saturday at Kasabuski Arena.
Sophomore Joe Soares and freshman Jake Ferraro both scored their first career varsity goals in the win, while junior Massey Ventre also scored one goal.
Saugus (1-1-1) hosts Beverly Wednesday night (7:30) back at Kasabuski Arena.
Swampscott’s lone goal came from junior Zack Pierce, while sophomore Aidan Sprague notched one assist.
The Big Blue (0-3-1) host Peabody Wednesday night (7:30) at Hockeytown Saugus.
Lynnfield 2, Hamilton-Wenham 2 (OT)
Aidan Burke scored one goal in the draw for Lynnfield, while Chase Carney had a solid game with one assist. Senior captain goalie Jake Debenedictis played well in net, coming up with a number of timely saves both in regulation and in overtime to secure the point.
Lynnfield (2-2-1) travels to Pentucket Wednesday night (7).

St. Mary’s 5, Bishop Stang 1
Felicia D’Alessandro scored two goals to pace the St. Mary’s offense. Goalie Rylee Smith made 20 saves for the Spartans.

Peabody/Lynnfield 3, Medford/Malden 1
The Tanners scored three unanswered goals Saturday afternoon to hand Medford/Malden its first loss of the year.
Chloe Shapleigh, Jen Flynn and Catie Kampersal scored one goal each in the win, while Hannah Gromko had two assists. Goalie Audrey Buckley played well in net to earn the victory.
Peabody/Lynnfield (4-1) hosts Newburyport Wednesday evening (5:15).
SWIMMING
Bishop Fenwick 85, St. Mary’s 59 (Saturday)
The Crusaders had two double-winners in Saturday’s win, with Meredith Yuhasz winning in the 200 individual medley (2:21.09) and the 100 backstroke (1:07.12) and Hannah English winning in the 100 breaststroke (1:31.64) and the 500 freestyle (6:37.38). Ryan O’Connor won the 200 freestyle (2:29.82), while Audrey Waldinger won the 100 butterfly (1:07.07). St. Mary’s also earned two relay wins, with the team of Yuhasz, Waldinger, Emily DelBene and Madison Moseley winning the 200 medley relay (2:10.00) and the 400 freestyle relay (4:26.81).
For St. Mary’s, Thiago Pereira was a double-winner after taking first in the 50 freestyle (27.92) and the 100 freestyle (1:00.92). Krystana Manthorne performed well in the 500 freestyle (8:24.00), while the relay team of Periera, Gaby Martin, Dylan Obyashi and Joel Yanes swam well in the 200 freestyle relay (2:00.87).

Austin Prep 90, Bishop Fenwick 72 (Sunday)
The Crusaders got first-place finishes from Audrey Waldinger in the 100 backstroke (1:07.37) and Meredith Yuhasz in the 500 freestyle (5:24.52).
Fenwick (1-1) swims against Arlington Catholic next Sunday (2:45).
