SWAMPSCOTT — A minor fire in the vacant former General Glover restaurant was put out with minimal damage to the building Tuesday evening, according to the Fire Department.
Firefighters were already on-scene at the Salem Street building investigating an issue with the heating system when a furnace flared up and oil saturated the surrounding area, a spokesman for the Fire Department said.
The fire was put out quickly, with damage limited to the furnace itself.
