SAUGUS — A male driver was apprehended Tuesday night after a crash on Route 1 in Saugus.
State Police report the vehicle hit the new divider at the Route 1 and Route 99 split at approximately 10:07 p.m. The driver, who was described as wearing a black leather jacket and jeans, jumped out and began fleeing on foot down Route 99 towards Lowe’s Home Improvement Store before he was apprehended by officers in the area of L.A. Fitness.
The man reported arm and chest pain and was transported to Melrose Wakefield Hospital. McGarvey’s Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
