The Winthrop girls hockey team continued its strong season Thursday afternoon, going on the road to notch a 6-2 win over Medford/Malden at LoConte Rink.
The all-star line of Emma Holmes (three goals, one assist), Julia Holmes (two goals, one assist) and Mia Martucci (one goal, three assists) dominated play on the offensive side for the Vikings, while Casey Petersen and Adrianna Rizzotto played well defensively. Goalie Summer Tallent notched 14 saves in the victory.
Winthrop (5-1-0) hosts Gloucester Saturday afternoon (12:40).

St. Mary’s 7, Norwell 0
The Spartans got a strong performance from goalie Ang Catino, who notched 14 saves in the shutout victory.
Jenna Chaplain had two goals and one assist to lead the offensive attack, while Makayla McGrath, Kasey Litwin, Lily Pregent, Kelly Lovett and Cara Donato each scored one goal. Samantha Porazinski had two assists, while Maggie Pierce, Regan Sullivan and Hannah Coleman each had one assist.
St. Mary’s (8-2-2) hosts Arlington Catholic Friday night (8) at Connery Rink.
BOYS HOCKEY
Gloucester 5, Saugus 2
Chris Regnetta and Jason Caron each scored one goal in the loss for the Sachems, but the story of the day was Saugus goalie Nick DiVola, who finished the game with an astounding 46 saves.
Saugus (2-3-1) plays on the road at Swampscott Saturday evening (6:40).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
St. Mary’s 69, Arlington Catholic 40
Behind an 18-point output from Maiya Bergdorf, the Spartans notched their eighth straight victory with a win on their home court at Tony Conigliaro Gymnasium.
Van Nguyen, AJ Hyacinthe and Kellyn Preira each scored eight points in the victory, while Olivia Abbott added seven points.
St. Mary’s (14-1) will play its third game in as many days Friday evening (6) against Archbishop Williams.
BOYS BASKETBALL
St. Mary’s 68, Arlington Catholic 40
Nick Sacco had a huge double-double for St. Mary’s with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Ali Barry led the team in scoring with 17 points. David Brown Jr. added 13 points.

Bishop Fenwick 58, Salem Academy 25
Mike Yentin scored 14 points in the win for the Crusaders, while Alex Gonzalez had seven points and 10 rebounds.
Fenwick (8-4) has a quick turnaround with a game on the road at Austin Prep Friday evening (6).
Marblehead 52, Swampscott 50
Despite holding an 11-point lead in the second half, the Magicians ended up having to rally from a six-point deficit late in the game. Hunter Fleming was the star of the night for Marblehead, hitting a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to give the Magicians the win.
Marblehead (3-3) hosts Beverly Friday evening (5:30).
For Swampscott, Andrew Augustin led the way with 16 points. Ryan Ward (12 points) and Jacob Cooke (10 points) also finished in double figures for the Big Blue.
