LYNNFIELD — The Town of Lynnfield is offering a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for seniors ages 75 and up on Saturday at Lynnfield Middle School, 505 Main St.
The clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be appointment only with no walk-ins.
Due to high demand and limited vaccine supply, appointments will be limited. Vaccinations will be given on a first-come, first-served basis for those making appointments. Residents are advised that it is expected that appointment reservations will fill up quickly.
“I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it fills up in less than an hour,” said Lynnfield Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Glenn Davis. “We want to get as many people vaccinated as possible. It’s just we only have fewer than 100 doses, so we’ll get as many people until the supply runs out.”
On Thursday, Feb. 11 a link will be posted and activated on the town’s website, https://www.town.lynnfield.ma.us/ at 10 a.m. Access the link to register for an appointment via PrepMod.
A registration link will also be activated on the town’s emergency management website, at https://www.lynnfieldoem.org.
The links will be deactivated once registration is full.
“We don’t want people to get frustrated when they can’t make an appointment, so they will be taken down as soon as we are out of appointments,” Davis said.
When booking your appointment, you will be asked to attest to your eligibility. If you need assistance at the vaccine site, you may bring someone with you, but, due to limited doses, accompanying caregivers will not be eligible to be vaccinated.
“We just don’t have enough doses to do that,” said Davis. “The state is allowing local boards of health to do it, but we simply lack the doses. The average age of hospitalized patients is 70.5 and those are the ones still getting sicker than most, so we need to make sure as many seniors as possible get their vaccinations.”
Residents must provide proof of eligibility at the door, such as a driver’s license or tax bill as proof of residency as well as health insurance cards. There is no charge for the vaccination.
Future clinic dates will be made available based on vaccine availability and distribution.
“Hopefully this clinic is just the first of many clinics we will be holding,” said Davis. “The supply chain has been troubling and disappointing, to say the least.”
The town strongly encourages Lynnfield residents to register with state clinics if local clinics are unavailable.
