SAUGUS — Emergency personnel worked to contain a gas leak in Saugus after heavy winds knocked a tree into a propane tank on the Lynn Fells Parkway Tuesday morning.
Police Lt. Ronald Giorgetti said the fire department received a call about a fallen tree at 10:48 a.m. When emergency crews arrived, they discovered the tree had damaged a propane tank near the road.
The propane company was reportedly on the scene by 11:30 a.m., followed shortly by the building inspector. The area was cleared by the Saugus Fire Department by 11:35 a.m.
