The Lynn Tech swim team picked up right where it left off after a strong 2019 season, opening the spring 2021 season with a 83-51 win over Greater Lawrence in a virtual meet Tuesday afternoon. The Tigers had two double-winners en route to the victory, with senior Liam Donovan and eighth grader Zakariya Bidoudane each taking home multiple wins.
Donovan earned wins in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:40.15) and the 500 freestyle (7:36.19), while Bidoudane won the 200 individual medley (2:43.59) and the 100 butterfly (1:17.81). Other winners for Tech were Kyle Lindquist in the 50 freestyle (30.50), Lee Lewis in diving (163.35) and Jeff Bucko in the 100 breaststroke (1:27.33). The Tigers also got relay wins from the team of Donovan, Bucko, Lindquist and Trevor Powers in the 200 freestyle relay (2:08.56) and from the team of Bidoudane, Lindquist, Bucko and Mario Rivera in the 200 medley relay (2:25.56).
Tech (1-0) returns to the pool next Tuesday (3) for a rematch with Greater Lawrence.
VOLLEYBALL
Mystic Valley 3, Tech 0
The Tigers fell by set scores of 15-25, 16-25, 17-25.
Derlande Montas had a solid game with five kills, two aces and one block, while Dairin Collazo added two aces and five digs.
Tech (2-1) travels to Mystic Valley Thursday (5:15).
Masconomet 3, Peabody 0
Abby Bettencourt led the Peabody attack with 10 assists and three kills, while Isabel Bettencourt added six kills and three aces. Sarah Broughton and Alli Flewelling had three kills each, while Maggie Bena and Krissy Cardello played well defensively.
Peabody (1-2) hosts Danvers Thursday evening (5:30).
Saugus 3, Swampscott 1
The Sachems notched their first victory of the spring season Tuesday evening with a conference win over the Big Blue.
Saugus (1-2) plays on the road at Winthrop Tuesday (5:30).
Izzy Pitman had nine digs and two aces in the loss for the Big Blue, while Nickole Fein had seven kills and Brooke Farnum had two blocks.
Swampscott (1-3) plays at home against Winthrop Thursday (5:30).
Winthrop 3, Salem 0
The Vikings won by set scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 27-25. Winthrop trailed 16-0 during the third set but rallied back to close out the win.
Carolyn Kinsella, Elle English, Jess Soares and Megan Gouge led the way with some great serving while Caroline Earl played well defensively. Katie Gagnon had three kills and Adyana Barbarisi had one. Newcomer Evan Bernstein also stepped up in a starting role.
Winthrop is at Swampscott Thursday (5:30).

Erikson Licardie and Gregoire Amissi found the back of the net for the Tigers.
“We just came to Nashoba a little flat (Tuesday),” Tech coach Eric Moreno Sr. said. “I don’t know why that happened but we have them again Wednesday.”

Juniors Chad Bernstein and Ryan Kfoury played well in the loss for the Vikings.
