It was a tough night for the Lynn Classical girls basketball team, which suffered its first loss of the season after falling 56-42 to Greater Boston League foe Everett Friday.
Ava Thurman led the way with 14 points while freshman Lauren Wilson also played well with seven points. Despite the loss the Rams still had some nice play off the bench. Senior Deshawna Rucker (three points) hit a big 3-pointer at a crucial point in the fourth quarter and sophomore Akiyah Brown (two points) contributed some solid defense and rebounding.
Classical (2-1) travels to Malden Wednesday evening (6).

The Bulldogs remained unbeaten on the young season with a road win Friday.

The Rams took their first loss of the season in a close one against their Greater Boston League rivals.
“It was a very close game,” Classical assistant coach Rob Upton said. “It just came down to the last few shots.”
Senior Angel Garcia led the way for Classical with 16 points.
