LYNN — Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section reportedly arrested Benjamin Tranfaglia, 35, on Thursday for trafficking in fentanyl, possession of a Class B narcotic with intent to distribute, and an outstanding larceny warrant.
According to Mass. State Police, State Police and Lynn Police Officers visited an apartment on Western Avenue in search of a wanted fugitive and were greeted by Tranfaglia, who was not the original target of the search but was had an outstanding warrant.
State police said that the apartment’s leaseholder escorted the officers in to search for the initial target, where numerous bags containing white and brown powder and assorted pills were sighted in plain view in Tranfaglia’s bedroom.
State police said the arrest team then closed off the room and got a search warrant. They reported that the subsequent court-authorized search resulted in the seizure of more than 15 grams of suspected fentanyl and suspected cocaine and crack cocaine, a cigarette wrapper containing suspected methamphetamine, various non-prescribed medications, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
State police reported that they also seized more than $770 in suspected proceeds from illegal drug sales from Tranfaglia.
According to Lynn Police Lieutenant Michael Kmiec, the Lynn Police assisted the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section unit at the address, noting that this was a State Police arrest. He said that Tranfaglia was turned over to the Lynn Police after a courtesy booking in Lynn.
