ATTLEBORO — The Bishop Fenwick football team rode a strong first half all the way to victory Thursday night, taking down Catholic Central League foe Bishop Feehan by a score of 21-7 on the road.
Jake Connolly rushed for one touchdown and caught another in the victory for the Crusaders, while Tucker Destino rushed for one touchdown as well. Quarterback Chrys Wilson threw one touchdown pass, while Steven Bua had two interceptions and Steven Woods had one interception.
Fenwick got things going right away after winning the coin toss and deferring. After forcing Feehan to punt, the Crusaders moved up the field before Destino punched in a touchdown from three yards out to make it 7-0.
On the next Fenwick drive, the Crusaders scored again when Wilson found Connolly on a screen pass and Connolly took it 20 yards to the house to make it 14-0 with a little more than one minute to play in the first quarter.
Bua’s first interception of the game set Fenwick up deep in Feehan territory early in the second quarter, and the Crusaders capitalized again. It was Connolly once again, this time on a three-yard run to make it 21-0 at halftime.
Feehan continued to fight back in the second half, eventually getting on the scoreboard when Robert Pombriant caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Aidan Crump to make it 21-7. But it was too little, too late, and the Crusaders were able to run out the clock and go home with their third straight win.
Fenwick (3-0) plays on the road at Archbishop Williams next Friday (5).
