School Sports Roundup: KIPP boys soccer takes down Nashoba

The KIPP boys soccer team got back on the winning train Monday afternoon, notching a 4-2 win over Nashoba Tech in a non-conference bout on the road. 

Marco Escobar recorded his second hat trick of the season in the win, while Kevin Rodriguez scored one goal. Jelder DeLeon, Kenny De Leon and Cristian Garcia Bermudez each had one assist, while Jefferson Paz and Gabriel Barrios controlled the game in the midfield. 

KIPP (3-2-1) hosts Nashoba Wednesday evening (6) at Manning Field. 

BOYS SOCCER

Winthrop 1, Whittier 0

Chris Nunes scored the lone goal in the win for the Vikings, while Aman Cherki had the assist. Loert Mana also played well in the win. 

Winthrop (4-2-2) plays on the road at Methuen Wednesday (6).

GIRLS SOCCER

Winthrop 4, Whittier 0

Mia Martucci led the Vikings with one goal and two assists in the win, while Maura Dorr, Lily Tallent and Maddie Stiglets each scored one goal. Grace Galuris had two assists, while Emma Holmes added one assist.

Winthrop (7-1) travels to Northeast Wednesday (4).

GIRLS TRACK

Lynnfield 55, Manchester-Essex 25

The Pioneers got first place finishes from Maddie Murphy in the 55-meter dash (7.6 seconds), April Luders in the 55 hurdles (8.73), Keely Briggs in the one-mile (6:28.6), Katie Cash in the two-mile (15:00), Ava Gamache in the high jump (4 feet, two inches) and Riley Hallahan in the shot put (30-2). 

Luders also had a second place finish in the shot put (26-8), while Lauren Braconnier finished second in the 1000 (3:29) and Jasmine Rose finished second in the 55 hurdles (9.3).

Lynnfield (2-0) runs against Ipswich Thursday afternoon (4:30).
