Letter: Doyle supports McQueen

To the editor:

Please support Phil McQueen’s re-election to the Lynnfield School Committee on April 13, 2021.

Over the past three years, I have come to rely on Phil’s insight as an educator.  His perspective has helped the committee understand the day to day challenges of a teacher, as well as the impact each of our decisions has on the classroom.

As we look ahead to returning to a “normal” school year and as School Superintendent Kristen Vogel begins to introduce her vision for the Lynnfield Public Schools, I know Phil will support her top initiative which includes: equity, diversity and inclusion.

Over the past three years Phil has spoken freely and advocated vehemently for these ideals. It is his passion to see the Lynnfield Public Schools become accepting, embracing and compassionate.  I cannot think of a better educator or elected official to ensure that this vision is reached.

Having a broad understanding of how a school district is structured and the ability to evaluate each decision relative to its impact on the entire district is a characteristic that sets Phil apart from the other candidates. This expertise makes Phil an invaluable member of the school committee particularly as our community heads into uncertain and challenging economic times. This community cannot afford to lose Phil’s skill set. He knows the hard questions to ask and he is not afraid to make the difficult decisions for the greater good of the school community.

I am proud to have served on the School Committee with Phil. I am proud to call him a friend. I know he will provide us with unequivocal leadership as we begin to move beyond the pandemic. He will be part of a team that will make the Lynnfield Public Schools better, stronger and an inclusive community for our children.

Please vote for Phil McQueen on April 13, 2021.
