April 7, 2021 by tlavery

LYNN — Mayor Thomas M. McGee and leaders from the state Registry of Motor Vehicles will gather at Lynn City Hall on Thursday morning to raise the flag and encourage residents to sign up to be organ donors.

April is National Donate Life Month, celebrating organ donors. According to New England Donor Services, 1,027 lives were saved in the region in 2020 by organ donation. However, more than 108,000 patients are currently on the waitlist for organs in the United States.

The vast majority of people who register as organ and tissue donors do so through the RMV.

The Thursday event will be 11 a.m. on the steps of City Hall and will include McGee, RMV officials and others whose lives have been touched by organ and tissue donation.

For more information or to register to be an organ donor, visit registerme.org.
