School Sports Roundup: Lynnfield girls track runs past Ipswich

The Lynnfield girls track team continued its strong start to the season Thursday afternoon, running to a 45-41 win over Cape Ann League foe Ipswich at Lynnfield Middle School. 

April Luders had another strong day on the track, winning the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.6 seconds and finishing second in the shot put with a distance of 28 feet. Other winners for the Pioneers were Maddie Murphy in the 55 dash (7.5), Lauren Braconnier in the 600 (1:49), Keely Briggs in the 1000 (3:41) and Riley Hallahan in the shot put (31-3). The 4×400 relay team of Luders, Braconnier, Bianca Guarracino and Jasmine Rose also took first place with a time of 4:17. 

The Lynnfield girls also got second place finishes from Anna Radulski in the one-mile (6:48) and Katie Cash in the two-mile (14:14) as well as third place finishes from Rose in the 55 hurdles (8.78), Morgan DeGrazia in the 1000 (3:57), Viola Wertz in the one-mile (6:49) and Julia Seelig in the two-mile (14:59).

The Lynnfield girls (3-0) and the Lynnfield boys (3-0 OR 2-1) run against Essex Tech Monday (3:30).

GIRLS TRACK

Winthrop 52, Gloucester 21

The Vikings got wins from Isabella Mahoney in the high jump (4-4), Skyla Zappulla in the shot put (24-5), Gianna Doherty in the 1000 (4:08) and April Feruson in the two-mile (13:58.2).

Winthrop (3-0) runs at Swampscott Wednesday (4).

BOYS TRACK

Winthrop 6, Gloucester 58

The lone win for Winthrop came from Dylan Sykes in the 55 hurdles (13.9).

Winthrop (0-3) runs at Swampscott Wednesday (4).

VOLLEYBALL

Masconomet 3, Saugus 0

Paige Prezioso played well defensively and at the service line in the loss for the Sachems. 

Saugus (2-5) travels to Marblehead Thursday (5:30).
