LYNN — The Veterans Affairs (VA) Bedford Healthcare System will host a walk-in vaccine clinic next Monday at the Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development (LHAND) community room on Church Street.
Unlike the first vaccine clinic that was offered in Lynn, this one will not be limited to veterans who are part of the VA Healthcare system, according to Michael Sweeney, the Lynn-Swampscott veterans services director.
The vaccine clinic, which will be open from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at 10 Church St., will be open to all veterans and their spouses, widows, widowers, and caregivers.
The Save Lives Act, recently passed by Congress, makes all veterans eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine regardless of their VA healthcare enrollment status, character of discharge or income level.
President Joe Biden signed the act into law in March, which expands the legal authority to provide COVID-19 vaccines to all veterans and their spouses, caregivers and beneficiaries.
The Save Lives Act includes all veterans as well as members in the Reserves, National Guard, Public Health Officers, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Coast Guard, and Academy Cadets.
The only documentation that spouses and caregivers will need is their veteran’s name and the last four digits of their Social Security number.
Pre-registration is available at https://www.va.gov/health-care/covid-19-vaccine/stay-informed.
If you have questions or need assistance with the registration form, call the MyVA411 main information line at 800-698-2411.
Veterans can also walk in and will be given a vaccine on a first come, first served basis.
