LYNN — A 46-year-old New Hampshire man was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries after he was stabbed on Lewis Street Thursday afternoon.
According to police, the man was stabbed in his lower back inside an apartment at 119 Lewis St., before walking to the Walgreens at 158 Lewis St.
Officers soon found him inside the store and he was immediately taken to MGH, where he received further treatment for loss of blood, police said.
While he was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, his status was downgraded to non-life-threatening after treatment, police said.
No arrests have been made, but police have advised surrounding communities to be on the lookout for a white Nissan, which a witness reported seeing leave the scene. The vehicle’s occupant is believed to be involved in the stabbing, police said.
A woman who preferred to be known as Tabitha, due to safety concerns, said she waited outside 119 Lewis St. at 2 p.m. Thursday, hoping to get inside to see her mother, who lives in an apartment in the building.
“The stress in this building is too much for her. She’s worried,” she said, and added that she hopes to move her mother out of the building to a safer location. “I’ve been trying to get her out for years. I have applications for senior places but there’s two-year waits. So she’s stuck.”
