I would like to thank Christopher DeCarlo of the Lynnfield Police Department for taking the lead with a successful April Autism Awareness and Acceptance month.
Along with Daniel Macintyre, director of the Lynnfield Housing Authority, we had great success with the Autism Police Patch Program, Light It Up Blue, Coffee With A Cop, and the Autism Parade.
Sales and donations from the police patches have totaled more than $3,200 with all proceeds going to the Northeast Arc Autism Support Center, which serves families of the North Shore.
As a parent of a child with autism, I am hugely grateful to the Lynnfield community for their support of these events to bring awareness, acceptance and education on autism.
I look forward to assisting with the planning for next year!
