The Bishop Fenwick football team wrapped up a dominating 6-0 season last week against Catholic Central League competition so it’s only natural the Crusaders were represented well on the CCL football all-star team released this week.
The Crusaders had a league-high 10 players earn all-star honors. St. Mary’s was also well represented with seven all-stars.
Wide receiver and defensive back Jake Connolly had a nose for the endzone all year long and was fittingly named CCL Most Valuable Player of the Year while offensive lineman Matt Juneau was honored as the League’s Offensive Lineman of the Year.
Senior quarterback and linebacker Chrys Wilson was also named a CCL all-star for the third time in his Crusaders career. Seniors Angel Martinez, Andrew Wilson and Stefano Fabiano were also named all-stars for the second time in their careers. Other all-stars included seniors Jimmy Espinal, Tucker Destino and Danny Richard and junior Chris Faraca.
St. Mary’s finished the shortened season at 4-2 and had a host of young talent get named to the team.
Senior Sal Afflitto and sophomore Dave Brown led the way, being named all-stars for the second time in their Spartan careers. Seniors Zach Barden and Tony Bello, junior quarterback Ali Barry and sophomores Jack Marks and Tommy Falsca were also named all-stars.
