Harvey Park variances sought in Lynnfield

Allysha Dunnigan

April 30, 2021 by Allysha Dunnigan

LYNNFIELD — Home building proposals for four lots on Harvey Park are before the Zoning Board of Appeals.

The petition for the project was filed by members of the Regina Trust — which includes Joseph J. DiPietro, Regina M. DiPietro, Paul DiPietro and Christopher T. DiPietro — on Jan. 7.

The Regina Trust is applying for variances and special permits for the razing, removal, reconstruction, and enlargement of the four existing dwellings located at 2, 4, 8 and 10 Harvey Park. The project will also increase the ground flow area and will be constructed on a larger footprint.

The land included in this Harvey Park project has an area of approximately 78,347 square feet and a street frontage of 83.11 feet.

The construction would replace the dwellings at 2 and 10 Harvey Park with new, enlarged single-family dwellings, while the multi-family residences at 4 and 8 Harvey Park will be replaced with new, enlarged and non-conforming two-family dwellings.

The multiple dwellings on one lot will be addressed by making them a condominium form of ownership.

Bedrooms in the single-family dwellings will increase from three to four. One of the two-family dwellings will keep the same six bedrooms. Two units will have three bedrooms, while the other will decrease from eight to six bedrooms.

Plans for this project were filed by Griffin Engineering Group, LLC in Beverly at the same time the permit was filed.

According to the memorandum included in the petition, the four dwellings were constructed around the year 1900 by the Eagleston family. The Eagleston family owned what was known as the Suntaug Inn in the approximate location of the Bali Hai restaurant, and it is believed that the four dwellings were used to house staff who worked at the Inn.

This project is on the agenda for the Tuesday, May 4 Board of Appeals meeting, which will occur via Zoom.
