School Sports Roundup: Lynn Classical volleyball wraps up regular season with win over Lynn English

The Lynn Classical volleyball celebrated Senior Night with a 3-0 win over Lynn rival English Monday night. The Rams won by set scores of 25-10, 25-14 and 25-14. With the win, Classical tied for first place in the Greater Boston League this season with a record of 6-1.

Seniors Brooke Warren and Andry Vasquez were honored before the match.

Samantha Thoeun and Izzy Faessler each had five aces for the Rams. Chloe Clement had a team high 12 kills while Thoeun and Reese Brinkler each had three. Faessler and Thoeun each had five assists while Thoeun added seven digs.

The Rams now focus on the GBL playoffs Wednesday (5) where they will host an opponent TBD.

BASEBALL

St. John’s Prep 16, Malden Catholic 6

Nicholas Solitro led the way for the Eagles with four RBI in the win. S Williams, DJ Pacheco and Sam Belliveau each had two RBI while Patrick D’Amico, Eric Wing, Quinn Perkins, Payton Palladino and Gavin George all had one RBI.

Peter Martin got the win on the mound with five strikeouts, while allowing two runs on two hits and four walks in three innings of work.

St. John’s (2-0) hosts Xaverian Thursday (4).

SOFTBALL

Danvers 19, Swampscott 2

Despite the loss, Nicolette Fraser went 3-for-3 with a double and one RBI for the Big Blue

Swampscott (0-2) hosts Beverly Wednesday (4).

Winthrop 18, Salem Academy 2

Pitcher Sophie Vitaled led the way again for the Vikings with 10 strikeouts while allowing just two walks and one hit in four innings.

Nelly Carter went 3-for-3 with two singles and a triple and a walk while knocking in three runs and scoring three runs.

Winthrop (2-0) hosts Marblehead Wednesday (4).

BOYS LACROSSE

Lynnfield 10, North Reading 5

Drew Damiani led the way with four goals and one assist for Lynnfield. Myles Mckay had two goals and one assist while John Briggs scored one goal. Nik Marotta had six saves.

Lynnfield is at Triton Thursday (3:45)

Swampscott 15, Gloucester 1

Jack Russo had a great day for Swampscott with two goals and four assists. Zach Pierce and Jayson Codispoti each scored three goals. Liam Herlihy (two goals), Vinny Palmer (two goals, one assists), Aidan Breault (two goals, three saves), Christian Pierro (one goals and Christian Urbano (one assist) all contributed.

Loukas Pantazopoulos had three saves.

Swampscott (1-0) travels to Peabody Thursday (4).

St. Mary’s 14, Matignon 5

Zach Barden led the way with six goals and three assists for the Spartans. Sam York had four goals while Jackson Field had three goals and two assists. Harrison Kinney had one goal and four assists. Freshman Daniel Domeniconi had 11 saves in net.

St. Mary’s (2-0) hosts Malden Catholic Wednesday (5).

GIRLS LACROSSE

Matignon 7, St. Mary’s 6

The Spartans lost a close one on the road despite a great game in net by Payton Quirk. Avery Laundry, Makayla McGrath and Kasey Litwin each scored two goals. Zoe Bozarjian added one goal.

St. Mary’s (0-2) hosts Austin Prep Saturday (5).

Peabody 16 Beverly 2

Hailee Lomasney led the way with 11 points in the win while Amber Kiricoples was far behind with eight points. McKayla Fisher added five points and Hailey Baker had three.

Jordyn Collins, Sophie Izzo, Emily McDonough, Elise Staunton all played well defensively. Olivia Lavalle had 10 saves in net.

Peabody (1-0) hosts Winthrop Wednesday (4).

Marblehead 15, Winthrop 3

Maddie Erskine led the way with five goals, four assists and two ground balls. Sydney Langton had four goals, two assists and three ground balls while Molly Forbes had three goals, one assist and a pair of ground balls. Abby Kalinowski added one goal with five assists while Fehr Gillett had two goals.

Elizabeth Driscoll had four saves in net.

Marblehead (2-0) travels to Salem Thursday (4).

Swampscott 12, Gloucester 0

Harper Clopton had a game-high five goals, while Elizabeth Green added three. Reese Robertson scored two goals and Brooke Waters and Alice Michigan each had one.

BOYS TENNIS

Beverly 4, Marblehead 1

Marblehead’s lone win of the match came from freshman Mika Garber, who beat beat senior Patrick Johnson 6-3, 6-1.

Junior Jack Donovan lost a close one to Senior Anthony Coletti 7-5, 6-3 and junior Aidan Ryan lost a very tight three setter 7-6 (8-6), 3-6, 7-6 (7-4).

Juniors Kipp Schauder and Dwight Foster lost to senior Matt Mitchell and Ivan Contreras 6-3, 6-2 in first doubles. Senior co-captain Daniel Farfel and senior Thomas Dack lost to Tom Schroter and Ryan Dunleaux 6-3, 6-2 in second doubles.

Lynnfield 3, North Reading 2

The Pioneers won a tight one thanks to key wins from Emma Gallucci, Emil Doguen and Lauren Grava. Gallucci won in first singles while Doguen and Grava grabbed a win in first doubles.

Lynnfield (1-0) hosts Triton Wednesday.

Marblehead 5, Beverly 0

Canaan Whittier had the match of the day, outlasting her opponent 6-2, 6-7, (10-3) in a super tiebreaker during second singles. Jessie Munroe grabbed a win in first singles (6-3,-6-2) while Tess Keaney won 6-2, 6-2 in third singles 

Emily Clough and Lauren Podgur continued their undefeated streak in first doubles winning 6-1, 6-1. Courtney Yoder and Leah Saulnier won second doubles 6-1, 6-0

Marblehead (2-1) travels to Peabody on Wednesday.
