Letter: Practicing what we preach

May 13, 2021 by the-editors

To the editor:

I think religious leaders should take the mote out of their own eyes before denying practicing Catholics anything. At a time like this, it’s not fair: President Joe Biden and U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are upholding the law, not their own personal beliefs.

When you have a history of pedophile priests and transferring the late Cardinal Law and hiding him in the Vatican, it seems incredible to me that you would judge Joe Biden and deny him Communion.

I think that all religious leaders should try to help their congregations and not hurt them. Sin is universal within and without; let’s try to practice what we preach. We are prone in our carnal nature to be quick to judge one another when we should let God be the judge.
