Few new virus cases reported on North Shore

A handful of new coronavirus cases were reported Wednesday in Lynn, Peabody, Revere and Salem as cases continue to trend downward. 

In Lynn, 11 new cases were reported to bring the city’s caseload to 17,639. Of that total, 115 cases are active, 216 people have died, and 17,308 have recovered from the virus, according to city data. 

Nine new cases have been reported in Peabody since Monday to bring its caseload to 7,254. The city’s death toll is 321 and 6,723 people have recovered, the health department said. 

Revere reported 16 new cases to bring the city’s total numbers to 10,971 cases and 163 deaths, according to the city website. 

Four new cases were reported in Salem, which now has 4,763 cases and 81 deaths, the city’s website said. 

No change was reported in Lynnfield (1,210 cases, 29 deaths) and Nahant (253 cases, nine deaths), and numbers were not updated in Marblehead, Saugus and Swampscott. 

Marblehead had 1,336 cases and 31 deaths as of last Friday, Swampscott had 1,161 cases and 19 deaths as of May 10, and new numbers have been released in Saugus (4,129 cases, 72 deaths) since April 29.
