LYNN — A minor gas leak inside Thurgood Marshall Middle School on Friday afternoon led to the building being evacuated.
According to the Superintendent of Schools Dr. Patrick Tutwiler, there were only a couple of programs on site when the decision was made to evacuate the building.
He said proper procedure was followed “perfectly” and the building was “swiftly” emptied of individuals before the police and fire departments arrived.
There were no injuries and Tutwiler said the issue has been corrected.
Tutwiler said families will be receiving communication from the building principal and classes will resume normally on Monday morning.
