SWAMPSCOTT — The town will hold a community meeting Wednesday to present the draft design of renovations and improvements to Windsor Avenue Park and Playground.
At the annual Town Meeting earlier this month, members approved $40,000 in funding for the project — on top of another $40,000 approved by the 2019 annual Town Meeting and $23,000 approved in 2020.
The new round of funding was contingent upon the town’s receipt of reimbursement from the Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities (PARC) grant program through the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
“Now we have the design, and we are sharing what we have,” Marzie Galazka, Swampscott’s director of Community Development, said. “We’ve scheduled a public meeting to share the design with residents and make final tweaks.”
Galazka clarified that the design is a draft and may change based on feedback from residents.
The park currently includes a basketball court and playground equipment, which has been there for several decades.
“It’s completely outdated. A comprehensive renovation and expansion of this project is going to breathe a lot of life into that park for residents,” said Select Board member David Grishman, who lives nearby, during the Town Meeting. “This is going to be a destination for many families in town.”
Galazka said the town anticipates putting the project out for bids in the first week of June.
The neighborhood meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday on Zoom. Login information can be found on the town website, swampscottma.gov.
