May 28, 2021 by Gayla Cawley

As the state prepares to reopen fully Saturday, coronavirus cases continue to decline locally.

In Lynn, Marblehead, Peabody and Salem, a small uptick in new cases has been reported over the past week, with numbers remaining unchanged in other communities.

Some towns, such as Saugus and Swampscott, have stopped reporting updated numbers in recent weeks.

In Lynn, seven new cases were reported on Friday, and 69 cases were reported between May 21-28. An additional death has been reported since Monday, according to city data.

Lynn now has 17,726 cases, 217 deaths, 44 percent of residents have been fully vaccinated and 54 percent have received their first dose.

Five new cases and an additional death have been reported in Peabody since Monday. The city now has 7,265 cases and 323 residents have died, the health department said.

Three new cases have been reported in Marblehead over the past seven days to bring the town’s total numbers to 1,341 cases and 31 deaths, the health department reported.

Salem has reported nine new cases since Monday to bring its caseload to 4,782. Eighty-one people have died, the city website said.

No change was reported in Lynnfield (1,211 cases, 29 deaths) and Nahant (253 cases, nine deaths), and numbers were not updated in Revere, Saugus and Swampscott.

Revere had 10,988 cases and 163 deaths as of Monday, Swampscott had 1,161 cases and 19 deaths as of May 10 and new numbers have not been provided in Saugus (4,129 cases, 71 deaths) since April 29.
