LYNN — Mayoral candidates Jared Nicholson, Darren Cyr and Michael Satterwhite are ramping up their campaigns following their official launch parties — and donations are pouring in.
Nicholson, Cyr and Satterwhite pulled papers to run for mayor on March 22, and Nicholson currently leads his fellow candidates in funding with about $26,000 in donations from mostly individual donors.
Nicholson’s wife Katherine Rushfirth is the treasurer for his campaign, which has received 10 donations of $1,000 since March. The majority of Nicholson’s donations range from $50 to $300 from family members, friends and colleagues.
After expenditures, Nicholson — who is a member of the School Committee — currently holds about $24,000 for his mayoral campaign.
Cyr — currently City Council president — follows Nicholson in donations with about $21,000 in mostly individual donations. Cyr received 17 donations of $1,000 from individuals including Michael Sherman and Christian Cyr of Lynn Water and Sewer, and Paul Keating of the Shafner, Keating & Cuffe law firm.
Cyr’s treasurer is Richard D. Parker, and his campaign has also received donations from David Solimine of Solimine Funeral Homes, and about $3,000 from others.
Cyr recently avoided a campaign mishap when he did not disclose the names of his campaign donors with the state’s Office of Campaign and Political Finance (OCPF), a gaffe that he characterized an “oversight.”
His team received a letter from the OCPF asking that a receipt of campaign donations during the month of April be provided to the department by May 28 — Cyr said the issue was fixed within 48 hours.
According to OCPF, Satterwhite — who is also a School Committee member — currently has about $2,000 after more than $10,000 put toward expenditures.
With two donations of $1,000 and a $2,650 donation from the Satterwhite Campaign for School Committee, Satterwhite’s mayoral campaign has accumulated about $7,000 since April from donors including School Committee candidate Eric Dugan.
Satterwhite’s treasurer is Melvin Satterwhite Jr.
The fourth mayoral candidate, Keith Lee, pulled papers for mayor on May 12 and plans to file those papers this week.
