LYNN — A witness said a fast-moving vehicle struck a car carrying four people Thursday morning downtown and sped away from the scene.
The accident occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. at Central Avenue, Munroe and Willow streets. Fabio Faria, who was at work at 139 Munroe St. at the time of the collision, saw a silver Chevrolet cross from Munroe to Central Avenue and was struck, he said, by a vehicle driving out of Central Square.
The impact flipped the Chevrolet onto its roof in front of La Fogata, located at the corner of Central Avenue and Willow Street. Faria said the other vehicle continued down Central Avenue.
“The other car disappeared. He was going so fast,” he said.
The crash brought police, firefighters, and emergency medical workers to the corner, as bystanders watched emergency workers free people from the overturned car. A relative said the four are family members, one of whom is a 95-year-old man. She said they were transported to Salem Hospital.
Lynn Police Lt. Lawrence Wentzell described the injuries as non-life threatening and said no information was available on the second driver.
