LYNN — Lynn Woods Running is back in full force this year and has kicked off its 51st year with the first session of the season on Wednesday.
The session included a trio of events, starting with a 1.57-mile kids’ race, a 2.2-mile adult race and a 5.5-mile adult race.
In the kids’ race, 5-year-old Jacob Bradley of Topsfield came out on top with a time of 17:31. Right behind in second and third were Lynnfield’s Elle Ferguson (6, 17:34) and Lynn’s Jaxson Lynch (5, 22:40). Rounding out the top runners were Georgetown’s Kylie Lynch-Godbout (8, 22:41), Lynnfield’s Emma Ferguson (5, 22:41), Georgetown’s Brooklyn Lynch-Godbout (10, 22:41), Mackenzie Lynch-Godbout (13, 22:42) and Lynn’s Veyron Montoya (10, 23:26) and Bridgette Lally (five, 32:58).
In the first adult race, which was run on the goat path in Lynn Woods, Lynn’s Juan Camilo outran the competition with a time of 14:42. Second place belonged to Newmarket, N.H.’s John Carton (15:04), while Lynn’s Jim Pawlicki (16:32) came in third. Rounding out the top 10 finishers were Dave Singer (Reading, 17:00), Pete Orrall (Lynn, 17:26), Mark Rosenblum (Melrose, 17:47), Jason Berroa (Lynn, 17:52), Joe Nguyen (Salem, 17:52), Andrew Saccardo (Peabody 18:01) and Kelley Hackett (Peabody, 18:53).
The longest race of the day was a 5.5-mile trek spanning both entrance gates of Lynn Woods. Beverly’s John Ayers took the top spot handily with a time of 36:35. Next up was Melrose’s Adam Cook (39:27). With Swampscott’s Nelson Knudsen (39:47), Winthrop’s Cormac Macphail (39:59) and Lynnfield’s Brian Hutter (40:49) rounding out the top five. Placing in the top 10 were John Mulroy (Reading, 41:00), Warren Macphail (Winthrop, 41:32), Daniel Burnett (Boston, 43:18) and Boxford’s Jeff Hixon (Boxford, 43:37).
