SWAMPSCOTT — Hannah Bowen has been appointed executive director of the North Shore Community Mediation Center, succeeding current Executive Director Cynthia McClorey, who is retiring.
Bowen, who grew up in Swampscott and now lives in Beverly, was previously the director of events and communications at the Intentional Endowments Network, according to her LinkedIn profile. She is also a current candidate for city councilor at-large in Beverly.
Bowen has also served in the Peace Corps in Ghana and has worked at several international and local nonprofit organizations in both Washington, D.C. and the Boston area.
She holds a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in both political science and Near Eastern studies from Yale University.
Founded in 1994, the North Shore Community Mediation Center is a nonprofit part of a network of 12 community mediation centers in the state. Its staff and 43 trained volunteer mediators provide family mediation and mediation for court-referred small claims, landlord/tenant disputes, workplace conflicts and neighborhood disputes at low or no cost to residents. They also work in local schools to deliver conflict resolution training and peer mediation programs for young people.
