The Swampscott girls lacrosse team has been a headache for opposing teams on the field all season and they’ll hope to continue that with a home game on Blocksidge Field to start the state tournament.
Swampscott has been led by an experienced group of four senior captains in Harper Clopton, Elizabeth Green, Reese Robertson and Jordan Waters. Junior goalkeeper Sasha Divall has also been excellent in net. The group is rounded out by some younger talent in Broghan Laundry, Scarlett Ciciotti and Coco Clopton. All that translated to a dominant 12-3 record on the field and the No. 6 seed in the Division 2 North bracket.
The Big Blue will host Lowell Catholic Monday (4).
Also earning home field advantage in the first round of the Division 2 North tournament is Bishop Fenwick. The Crusaders capped the season at 10-3 and will host Manchester Essex Monday (5:30) at Donaldson Field.
Peabody leads the pair of local teams in the mix in the Division 1 North bracket. The Tanners earned the No. 10 seed and are headed by another strong group of seniors including Amber Kiricoples, Hailee Lomasney and goalie Olivia Lavalle. Peabody finished the year with a 10-4 record and will travel to North Andover Monday (5).
Also hoping to make some noise in the Division 1 North is Marblehead. The Magicians took their lumps early on but finished the season strong with a 8-4 record. Marblehead will be especially riding high after closing the season with a thrilling 11-10 come-from-behind win over crosstown rival Swampscott on the road Tuesday.
The No. 12 Magicians also have some of the area’s best players in seniors Maddie Erskine and Molly Forbes along with plenty of other offensive firepower and a strong goalie in Elizabeth Driscoll.
Marblehead will host No. 21 Wakefield Friday (4).
