SWAMPSCOTT — The Town Democratic Committee will hold a virtual caucus on July 14 to elect delegates and alternates to the 2021 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention.
The caucus is open to all registered and pre-registered Democrats in Swampscott. Pre-registered Democrats who will be 16 by June 15 can participate and run as a delegate or alternate. The town can elect nine delegates and four alternates to the convention.
The state convention will be held on Sept. 25 at the Tsongas Center at University of Massachusetts Lowell, where Democrats from around the state will adopt a party platform, discuss party business and prepare for upcoming elections. The event will follow all COVID-related health guidelines and will include a virtual participation option.
Youth, minorities, people with disabilities and LGBTQ+ individuals who are not elected as delegates or alternates may apply to be an add-on delegate at the caucus or at massdems.org by Aug. 6.
