SAUGUS — The time has finally come for World Series Park in Saugus, after nearly two decades of waiting and fundraising.
Starting July 6, the complex will begin the installation of lights for the baseball field.
Current estimates say it will take about two and a half weeks to complete the installation.
“We are very excited to finally start the installation,” said World Series Park Superintendent Bob Davis. “We’ve been saving over the past 16 seasons to make this happen. Lights will increase the use of the field. We’re still in need of additional funds to finance this project and call on anyone who supports us to make a donation. We thank everyone who has so far donated.”
A dedication ceremony for all those who donated to the World Series Park Lighting Fund is planned for July 30 if the installation goes as planned.
The World Series Park Lighting Fund is still looking for donors, as the funds have come up short for the total cost of the lights. Anyone who donates $100 or more will get their name or the name of a departed loved one on the permanent Lighting Fund plaque and will be invited to the dedication ceremony and reception.
Donations can be made by sending a check payable to World Series Park, 8 Holden Ave., Saugus, MA 01906. Donations can also be made online by going to worldseriespark.net or through the fund’s GoFundMe page.
