The No. 4 St. John’s Prep baseball team punched its ticket to the Division 1 North Final on Friday afternoon, blowing out No. 8 Boston Latin by a score of 10-0 in six innings in a Division 1 North semifinal game at Pete Frates Field.
Two Prep pitchers combined to earn the shutout win, with Joseph Gizmunt getting the start and the win after pitching three innings and allowing just two hits with three strikeouts. Peter Martin pitched the final three innings, allowing no runs on no hits with four strikeouts.
On the offensive side of the ball, Shane Williams was the pace-setter after going 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBI. Pat D’Amico went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBI, while Nick Solitro went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Payton Palladino went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, while Gavin George (1-for-2) and DJ Pacheco (1-for-4) also added hits.
St. John’s Prep (13-3) moves on to the Division 1 North Final Monday (4) against No. 2 Lincoln-Sudbury.
BASEBALL

No. 18 Bishop Fenwick 11, No. 6 Gloucester 0 (F/5)
Anthony Marino was lights-out on the mound and the Fenwick bats were on fire as the Crusaders rolled to a five-inning win.
The key inning for Fenwick was the top of the fifth, where the Crusaders sent 13 batters to the plate and scored nine runs on six hits and four walks.
Marino allowed just one hit in the victory, striking out 10 batters in the process.
On the offensive end, Scott Emerson, Christian Loescher and Mike Faragi each had two RBI to lead the way.
Fenwick (12-11) now moves on to the Division 3 North Final Monday (4) on the road at No. 4 Stoneham.

The Pioneers wrap up the year as the Division 3 North runner-up after getting blanked on the road Friday afternoon.
Harrison Luba fell in first singles (6, 2-6), while Jamil Khodr lost in second singles (3-6, 0-6) and Dan Levin fell in third singles (0-6, 1-6). In doubles play, the team of David Kasdon and Jason Yang fell in first doubles (0-6, 0-6) and the team of Rafik Khodr and Russell Kasdon fell in second doubles (0-6, 0-6).
Lynnfield finishes the season at 13-1.
BOYS TRACK
MIAA All-State Track and Field Championships
St. John’s Prep’s Nathan Lopez won the MIAA All-State championship in the two-mile Thursday afternoon at Norwell High School, finishing with a time of 9:06.14 to just squeeze past Wellesley’s David Donahue by a mere 0.16 seconds.
Other strong local performances included Marblehead’s Ciro Martin Sotos with a sixth-place finish in the 800 (1:56.24), St. John’s Prep’s Charlie Tuttle with a sixth-place finish in the two-mile (9:12.41) and the St. John’s Prep team of Tuttle, Nick DeMelo, Declan Kelley and Graham MacDonald with a sixth-place finish in the 4×800 relay (8:10.37).
The rest of the MIAA All-State Track and Field Championships will take place Saturday, with the boys events beginning at 10 a.m. and the girls events beginning at 3 p.m.
